Music Education Seminar by Lea Kang

Born in South Korea, Lea HJ Kang received her Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea, and her Master’s degree in Music Education from Trinity College of Music in London, UK. She has been teaching piano pedagogy and integrated art education in graduate schools, as well as conducting workshops for piano teachers throughout South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and China, including at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in the United States.

She is the author of piano method publications including Piano Academia, Piano Maestro, Technique School, and Sonatina Collection. Another series she has authored is an integrated arts education resource called 'Smart 8,' which has versions in Korean, English and Chinese. It aims to develop holistic musicianship and expressive piano technique through fun activities. As part of the seminar, the 'Smart 8 Workshop: Developing 8 Multiple Intelligences with Integrated Art & Music Activities' will be held.

Currently, she is the head of Sekwang Music Education & Research Centre and an adjunct professor at Soongsil University and Myongji University. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Dalcroze Society and the Association of Integrated Art Education in South Korea.

Lea Kang has made significant contributions to music education and has a broad international presence in her field. Her work in both piano pedagogy and integrated art education reflects a commitment to providing a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to music learning.
