The stage is set, the curtains drawn, and anticipation fills the air as the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) announces its grand return in 2024! 


As the final instalment of a three-year arc surrounding the theme The Anatomy of Performance, this year’s edition is subtitled They Declare, inviting you to take in other voices, recognise our co-existence with the natural environment and make space for different beliefs and ways of being.


Prepare to be captivated as we spotlight this year's celebration of the arts, featuring new commissions, fresh interpretations of existing works, and outstanding pieces from Singapore and around the world and Singapore!


1. Discover the beauty of coexistence and connection

Creativity knows no borders: NZ and SG unite with SUARA / ORO RUA!

Continuing to explore dynamic transnational collaborations, SIFA 2024 brings you SUARA / ORO RUA. Conceived by Māori Choreographer Eddie Elliott and our very own music artist Safuan Johari, this collaboration features original compositions with a diverse choral unit and a seamless blend of string and electronic music. Inspired by the Māori concept of Te Kore, a cast of New Zealand dance artists will represent the silent history of Earth before life found its voice.

 
SUARA / ORO RUA runs from 24 to 26 May 2024 at Singtel Waterfront Theatre at Esplanade. Tickets are priced from $38.

Follow Captain Ahab's relentless pursuit with Moby Dick.

SIFA 2024 also gathers the voices of prominent and promising artists from across the globe. Inspired by the director, Yngvild Aspeli’s Norwegian heritage, Moby Dick follows the tale of a whaling expedition intertwined with themes of obsession and a quest to unravel the unexplained mysteries of life. 

 

Moby Dick runs from 17 to 18 May 2024 at Singtel Waterfront Theatre at Esplanade. Tickets are priced from $38. 


2. Unleash your imagination with Little SIFA


In line with the festival's goal of nurturing new audiences, Little SIFA aims to introduce young audiences to the colourful world of the performing arts with an all-new special series of family-friendly programmes running from 24 to 26 May 2024.

Enter the enchanting world of The Dancer’s Fair!

Step into an enchanting, interactive world of art and play at The Dancer's Fair! You are invited to indulge and breathe life into this larger-than-life ballerina and an old-style fair comprising seven fascinating machines from Antigua i Barbuda. Join this fantasy world where both parents and children can come together to activate the mechanisms powering the carousel. 

 

The Dancer's Fair runs from 24 to 26 May 2024 at Cathay Green. Admission is free.

Delight in Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About A Terrible Monster where Mo Willems' books come to life with hundreds of illustrated paper puppets, book pages, two-dimensional props, furry monster puppets and songs! Enjoy the big screen experience, or witness the artists below as they craft the story in real time. 

 

Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About A Terrible Monster runs from 24 to 26 May 2024 at School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) Drama Theatre. Tickets are priced from $38.



3. Unlock Life's Essence with SIFA Digital

Overcome obstacles and penetrate barriers with Fl(u)orescence.

Experience the liberation from constraints and the interconnectedness of life with Fl(u)orescence. Journey through the intricate mycelial mind to find out how we can break free from restrictive patterns and embrace a deeper interconnectedness.  

 

Fl(u)orescence runs from 17 May to 2 June, online. Admission is free.

Encounter SIFA in the digital space through The light gleams an instant!

Enter a world where art, music, and nature blend seamlessly in this experimental short film. The light gleams an instant delves into the rich collection of specimens from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum and casts a new light on artist-jeweller Shing of Argentum and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. 

 

The light gleams an instant runs from 1 April to 2 June 2024, online. Admission is free. 


From 17 May to 2 June 2024, get ready for an exhilarating finale as SIFA 2024 wraps up with a bang, marking the thrilling conclusion of The Anatomy of Performance series.
