Are you ready to embark on a literary adventure? Brought to you by Arts House Limited, Textures, the vibrant annual festival celebrating Singapore literature (SingLit), is back in action! In conjunction with the Light to Night Singapore Festival and Singapore Art Week 2024, Textures promises a dazzling showcase of multidisciplinary SingLit-related programmes and exhibitions under the theme Reimagine. Brace yourselves for a tapestry of artistic wonders that shines the spotlight on literary gems close to home, held at The Arts House.


1. Step into the immersive world of Thank You For Holding

When the audience becomes part of the drama–choose how your story in Thank You For Holding will unfold.

This multidisciplinary masterpiece weaves together poetry, movement, and live music in a captivating exploration of the unique world inside a call centre. Crafted by Marc Nair, choreographed by Sudhee Liao, and brought to life by the dynamic trio Arunditha, Chan Hsin Yee, and Jack Ng, Thank You For Holding is a symphony of creativity composed by Mantravine. With art direction by Audrey Ng and Low Zi Hao casting a spell, audience interaction adds an immersive twist so you play a part in determining how this tale will unfold with each session.

Who needs #BookTok when you can discover your entire reading list for the year at Textures? Gear up for the ultimate bookish adventure at Chio Book’s Pop-up Bookstore, where you can dive into a treasure trove of titles from local and international wordsmiths across diverse genres.  If you're more of a digital explorer, swing by Read At Home, where your literary escape is just a click away. In collaboration with the National Library Board (NLB), this digital wonderland houses a variety of e-Book titles that can be accessed by simply scanning the QR codes of your desired e-Book. 


The Pop-up Bookstore runs from 19 to 21 January 2024, and 26 to 28 January 2024, at the Level 1 Foyer. Read at Home runs from 19 to 28 January 2024 at the Level 1 Corridor.

3. Dazzle your senses through beautiful art installations

Digital dreamscapes come to life in the form of art installations at Textures 2024.

Feast your eyes on mind-bending art installations and digital spectacles gracing the lawn and facade of The Arts House. Dive into nostalgia with Justin Loke's 8-Bit Word Cloud, a vibrant homage to retro video game graphics, exploring the dance between digital pixels and letters where digital art meets classic gaming vibes. Looking for a surreal escape? Immerse yourself in the captivating projection, Winter Sonata, Summer Mookata by Knuckles & Notch, a dazzling journey through anime-inspired wonders that challenge the boundaries between reality and the fantastical realms of imagination.

4. Dive deep into literary history through insightful exhibitions

Get to know Goh Poh Seng–poet, dramatist, and the OG rebel of the literary world!

Discover the rebel spirit of Goh Poh Seng through a documentation of his literary journey in Singapore! From when he first unleashed Singlish onstage through his play When the Smiles are Done and snagging the inaugural Singapore Literature Prize for If We Dream Too Long to even challenging the likes of rock star David Bowie, Tell Bowie He's Only A Rock Star. I, However, Am A Poet is an electrifying exhibition featuring one of the greats in our local literary scene. The Cultural Medallion Literary Pursuit invites you on a literary quest in discovering how 130 visionaries, including writers and poets, are honoured for reshaping our view of the world by scanning QR codes to unlock a gallery filled with clues and surprises.

Embark on our literary adventure at the Our Cultural Medallion Story showcase.

Tell Bowie He's Only A Rock Star. I, However, Am A Poet is running from now till 28 January 2024 at the Level 1 Foyer. The Cultural Medallion Literary Pursuit is available from Tuesday to Sunday at Level 1. 

5. Catch a glimpse into your future with free tarot card readings

Spice up your literary adventure at Textures with a touch of mystique! Nehesa Ascension is bringing exclusive Tarot Card Readings to the Pop-up Bookstore, where you can unlock the secrets of tomorrow with seasoned Spiritual Healer and Psychic Grace J Teo. Simply follow @theartshouse and @chio_books on Instagram, then register onsite at The Arts House on the specified dates for a complimentary 15-minute reading. But hurry, as only 10 slots per session are on a first-come-first-serve basis! After that, subsequent readings are at $25 each.


Partake in tarot card readings on 19 and 26 January 2024 from 8pm to 10pm, and 20 and 27 January 2024 from 6pm to 10pm, at the Pop-up Bookstore. 

Journey into the world of SingLit in multi-sensorial experiences

The 7th edition of Textures promises a whimsical fusion of words through multidisciplinary programmes, art installations, exhibitions, and more. Watch SingLit come to life and celebrate the works of brilliant minds shaping literary magic at Textures 2024!
