CNY Family Fun celebrates the Year of the Dragon with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra

The crowds really got into the festive season this Chinese New Year (CNY) with CNY Family Fun, a vibrant celebration co-hosted by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) from 26 to 28 January 2024. If last October’s Mid-Autumn Family Fun was anything to go by, this three-day extravaganza was an even more delightful whirlwind of interactive activities, captivating performances, and a vibrant showcase of SINGAPO traditions.


Engaging with Traditions Through Puzzle Hunts and Chinese Opera

Delving into the rich history and heritage of Chinese culture in a slew of fun and engaging activities.

This year's theme, Engaging Traditions, invited families of all ages to delve into the heart of CNY celebrations. Families embarked on a thrilling puzzle hunt and enjoyed learning about opera through captivating performances and even indulged in delicious snacks from various dialect groups. Of course, the free ice-cream and limited-edition red packets added to the joyous atmosphere too.

Fashion, Craft and Festive Food

Browsing through a bazaar ranging from all sorts of festive goodies to crafts and chic fashion items.

There was also a bustling marketplace with over 40 booths offering handmade crafts, unique fashion finds, festive goodies, and even an Old Chang Kee food truck for people to munch on their favourite local snacks while they shopped for new year’s homeware.

Perfect for Instagrammable moments and tons of family fun!

A sure hit with families was the chance to relive childhoods at BeLONG's Art Playground, a colourful haven that was also part of Singapore Art Week 2024 and inspired by Singapore's HDB playgrounds. Housed on the SCCC’s rooftop garden, it was an opportunity for the whole family to explore CNY customs in a playful way.

Chinese Orchestral Music and Hanfu Fit Check

Spring was in full swing with the festive sounds of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra's captivating concert, Rhapsodies of Spring 2024 roused the spirit of the dragon alive with pieces like Dragon and Spring Returns SG, and of course there was the popular opportunity to take home unforgettable family portraits in traditional hanfu with A Spring Portrait.
