Republic Polytechnic Reflections Arts Festival 2024
Republic Polytechnic is set to host its highly anticipated annual Reflections Arts Festival from 15 October – 2 November 2024 at Republic Polytechnic (RP). This year’s Festival revolves around the theme of Bhumi, Celebrating Earth’s Beauty through the Arts. It aims to commemorate our collective resolve to tackle the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges and encourages commitment to practise more sustainable efforts towards creativity and the arts.
Reflections Arts Festival includes both ticketed and complimentary programmes for the public to attend, including performances, concerts, and theatre productions by RP students and in collaboration with The Purple Parade.
Event Highlights
• Opening Launch & Parade (15 October, 5.30pm): Join us for an energetic festival launch as CREATE students parade through with Beats Encore and RP Wind Symphony, followed by live performances from Replug, Republic Rhapsody, and Style Gropuovaz Crew. In collaboration with The Purple Parade and the Office of Student Support, this vibrant showcase highlights the power of community and inclusivity in driving sustainability.
• Kancil (30 October, 7.30pm): Join us in the birthday celebration of the legendary, clever mousedeer in conjunction with The Purple Parade. As the environment around her rapidly changes, see how she and the rest of the animals adapt to the challenges around them.
• MUSE XIII: Elemental (19 October, 8pm): Unleash Your Senses at "Elemental": A Dance Concert Experience! Step into a world where movement meets nature in "Elemental," an exploratory dance concert that brings the five primal forces—earth, water, fire, wind and space—to life on stage! Feel the grounding strength of earth, the fluid grace of water, the passionate intensity of fire, the absolute stillness of space and the ethereal beauty of the wandering wind, as each piece unfolds in a spectacular celebration of motion and emotion. "Elemental" is more than just a performance; it's an immersive journey that invites you to connect with the world around you.
• World Drum Night VI: Songs of Our Land (2 November, 8pm): This collaborative percussion show aims to uncover, resurrect, and reenergize the melodies, songs, and rhythms of our homeland. Singapore—a land rich with its native heritage and migration stories, the birthplace of first-generation settlers, the spirit of independence, and the essence of a modern multicultural cosmopolitan. This concert, presented by a young and fearless generation and directed by Riduan Zalani, stands firm in honouring and celebrating our unique stories. It also serves as a bridge between generations, allowing the youth to delve deeper into the songs of our predecessors. Join us as we pay homage to our past and present through the powerful rhythms of “Songs of Our Land” with the performing groups from Republic Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, ITE College Central, ITE College West, ITE College East, Singapore Management University and more!
